Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2014, units were dispatched for a detached garage on fire in the 500 block of Highway DD. The first truck arrived and found the garage well involved in fire and the siding of the house next to it melting and about to ignite. The first hose line was used to cool the house and prevent the fire from spreading to it, then to knock down the fire in the portion of the garage closest to the house. Two more hose lines were pulled and the garage was extinguished. New Melle firefighters were assisted by units from Augusta, Cottleville, and Wentzville Fire Districts.
