Thursday morning, October 24th, a dump truck and passenger vehicle were involved in a head-on collision on Highway DD near the entrance to the quarry. Fire units from New Melle, Augusta, and Cottleville responded and had to extricate the driver of the SUV. The patient was flown to a trauma center by helicopter.
