Recently, New Melle Fire Protection District and St. Charles County Ambulance District recognized Ms. Jodi Nichols, a 5th grade teacher at Daniel Boone Elementary School, for saving one of her students. Ms. Nichols performed the Heimlich maneuver as the student was choking on a piece of hard candy. This is the second time in recent years that a Daniel Boone staff member has saved a choking student.
